The problem is with our Chrysler minivan my grownup bile dangles inside 6 or eight inches of the pavement. If your hitch is relatively low to the backside as on a minivan I'd make a selection some other product.

The salespeople at my local bike keep told me it can be made via Thule, however I did not try to examine that truth. I love the single arm design. I had the Thule Spare Me however my new GT mountain bike would not fit since the crossbar is brief and the rack fingers were too extensive. However, the single arm design of the Sportrack remedys that downside. I also installed the 2 locking items (locking hitch pin and locking knob) which appear like they may do the job to discourage the opportunistic thief, so I can go to the grocery store after using without being concerned the bike and/or rack will be gone when I return.
The clamp gadget for holding the bike works competently and that is partly why I just like the rack seeing that I do no longer need to ever mess with or take a glance at straps. Even after I tighten so far as I suppose I need, I can all the time still manually wobble the bike reasonably (which I would expect). But there's a rubber sleeve on the top and bottom of each bike place which maintains the bike from sliding round. Even though I can manually wobble the bike, I by no implys feel find it irresistible's actually moving while driving, and I'm assured the bike goes to stay put. Also, the knobs have long screws that are threaded down into the frame piece, so it takes various turning to cast off the knobs to (un)load the bike. If you may get frustrated standing there and fliping knobs for a minute or two every time you use the rack, this one may not be for you.
I also just like the smooth, minimalist design of the rack (only one arm and no straps flapping in the wind when it is unloaded). I even have been complimented on it by strangers in parking lots who asked the place I got it. Overall, I'm more than pleased with this purchase.
